Cory and I had decided that the best decision for our family at that time was to move to NWA for me to complete my internship for School Psychology in the Springdale Public Schools. We, young and foolish, found a house and purchased it. Meanwhile I had an internship that paid but it was small and Cory was unemployed. We were so crazy and yet no one pointed that out to us at the time - not even our beloved parents. I just remember them being supportive and encouraging. We made the move and prayed 100 times a day that God would provide. And he did.
Two weeks after we moved to NWA, Al ended up calling Cory in for an interview and hiring him. It was truly a blessing. Especially in light of the upcoming recession that would leave tons of people unemployed and no one hiring for months and months. Cory started at the bottom and has literally worked his way up. The recruiting business is a tough industry with 1 out of 8 "making it." And again starting this career and trying to build it up in the midst of the recession was TOUGH. God provided. He walked by our family without fail and provided.
In the 2012, we welcomed our Emery Claire and decided that I would take the school year off from working to stay home with the kids. This was a scary decision but most of all financially. Cory's career had improved tremendously but still he is mainly commission. God provided. In 2012, Cory reached a milestone that had not been reached by any other person in the 17-year history of his office. The goal is called "pacesetter" and it is when someone reaches a set goal that is set worldwide for all the franchise offices. Out of the 2500 recruiters that recruit for MRI, 190 individuals made pacesetter. And Cory was one. Other than bragging rights, the prize is an all expense paid trip in March to a location set 2 years in advance. The trip for the 2012 pacesetters was in Los Cabos, Mexico.
The resort was amazing! It was the Hilton Los Cabos Beach and Golf resort. We arrived on Sunday afternoon and took some time walking the resort and seeing our home for the next 5 days. Here are some pictures of our resort
On Sunday evening they had dinner poolside to welcome everyone.
After waking up VERY early (2:45 a.m.) in order to make our flight. So we headed to bed relatively early that evening. Monday was "awards day". In the morning they had a tent set up on the beach with the welcoming ceremony and the key-note speaker Kurt Warner.
I really enjoyed hearing him speak. I definitely know who he is but I was not aware of his story -- working as a grocery bagger after failing in professional football and then after being noticed in arena football he was given the chance to play for the RAMS where he lead his team to a Superbowl victory. Kurt has seven children and he spoke of them often. He is laid back and a great communicator with some humor tucked in there. He was enjoyable to listen to. His overall message was about how with success comes sacrifice.
After Kurt spoke they had the parade of pacesetters. Out of the 190 that made pacesetter about 185 of them made the trip. So 185 people paraded on the stage and said their name, their office and how many years they have made "pacesetter." It ranged from it being their first year to one lady said it was her 28th year. Wow.

And on Monday evening was the "Award's Banquet." The banquet was again in the tent on the beach.
