Everything Emery {9 months}

Happy 9 months, Emery Claire!

This has been a big month for you.  You have learned to clap, been sick for the first time and learned to be mobile in every way possible EXCEPT for crawling.  Bless your heart.  I am convinced that if you do learn to crawl it will only be followed up quickly with walking.  You go from sitting to all fours quickly and rock back and forth but as soon as you take your first "crawl" forward you just fall on your belly and start "swimming."  You usually just roll to what you want and then turn in a complete circle while laying on your belly.  If only you knew it would be easier if you just crawled!  Ha.

Let's see what else has been going on at 9 months:
  • You had your first sick appointment earlier this week and you weighed a little over 20 pounds 10 ounces.  You have your well-child check-up in a few weeks when Lincoln has his 3 year check up.
  • You have pretty much dropped eating baby food.  You will steal eat it but you would much rather eat table food.  You have eaten lots of new things this month: diced peaches, peas, cheese, and deli meat.  You only have 2 teeth but you can gum these things down with the best of them.

  • You wear size 3 diapers and some 9 month clothing and some 12 month clothing.
  • You are still on the same 4 bottles of 7 ounces a day schedule.  Enfamil Gentlease.
  • You still take 2 naps a day from 9:30-11:00 and 1:00-3:30

  • You have struggled sleeping through the night this month. We have tried to wean you off your acid reflux meds but I just don't think you are ready so that may be a big reason why you are not resting well at night.  I also think your desire to crawl interferes with your sleep.
  • You learned to clap this month.
  • You are also showing "signs" that you are understanding sign language.  From time to time when I ask if you are all down you put your hands together and put them on your forehead.  And you attempt clap when I say the world "more"

  • You babble "dada" a lot and often on command.  You have also babbled "mama" this month a handful of times but only when you are really upset.

  • You love for me to sit on the floor and hold you standing up.  You prefer to face me and chew on my left shoulder while patting me on the back.  It is funny but this whole situation makes you the happiest.  Can we say high maintenance?
  • A few days ago we started letting you take a bath in the bathtub.  You were using the duck bath to try to stand and crawl out so it was not working anymore.  Lincoln is pumped (to say the least) that you are in the regular bathtub and begs us to let him take a bath with you.  I think you like it that he is in there too.

  • You still love your paci.
  • You got your 2nd tooth this month on the bottom.
  • Your favorite toys are your lovie, baby dolls, your glo worm, your hairbows, a pink teether toy and your hands!

Here is the monthly comparison.  Lincoln definitely has more teeth than you did at this age but I think you continue to look "older" than him and you are also growing faster than he did.

We love you sweet girl and could eat up your sweetness with a big ole spoon!

Pig Soooie

Saturday night our family of four loaded up and headed to the Razorback basketball game! I LOVE basketball games. I started playing basketball when I was in 5th grade and played every year through my 2nd year of college. I understand the science behind it all and just LOVE it. It was the first time for all of us to go together.

We took Lincoln to his first game when he was 10 months old. Emery, 8 months old, experienced her first game. She was a rock-star baby. She just sat in my lap (Cory's some) and looked around at all the action. She even hummed and danced along to the band and enjoyed the cute little 5 year old girls behind us!

This is Lincoln's third game this season so he is a pro. He claps and boos along with the rest of the crowd. His favorite is calling the Hogs and watching the band play. We got tickled at him because he kept saying "I don't want to go to time out" over and over. He was a little confused between the difference of "his" time out verses a basketball time out. By the end of the game when the announcer would say "timmmmme out" Linc would look at me and say "not for me mommy, only those boys" and point to the court.

And what is an evening without some sibling love

or at least one of them is loving the other. Ha!

Go hogs!!

Everything Emery {8 months}

Our sweet girl is 8 months old!  Yikes!  We are already starting talks about her first birthday party.  How can that be?  I feel like she has developed in several different ways this month.  For starters, she has started babbling her first word "dada" and has decided be on the move with her consecutive rolling in order to get places.  She HATES to sit down and will straighten her legs and body in order to keep standing instead of sitting.  She is still the BEST baby.  She rarely cries, sleeps like a rock star and has a wrinkled nose smile that can melt your heart.  Let's see what else you have been up to this month, Emmy!

 Eight month stats:
  • You go to bed around 7:45 each night and sleep till 7:30 a.m.
  • You take two naps a day.  9:30-11:00 or so and 1:00-4:00.  You occasionally cat nap in the evenings if you did not take a very long nap or we are out and about in the evenings.
  • You wear size 3 diapers and 9 month clothing.
  • You eat 4 bottles a day, every 4 hours that are 7 ounces each.  You still drink Enfamil Gentlease and you still take 2.5 ML of prevacid everyday.  I tried to stop your medicine this month but it did not go well.  You were ok for a few days but after that you would cry while eating and then stopped eating all together.  However, once I started you back on the medicine you went back to eating.
  • You have been eating lot of baby food this month along with puff, yogurt melts and baby rice cakes.  You eat about 3-4 ounces for lunch and for dinner.

  • You have been babbling "dada" a lot this month.  When you babble you lift your arms up and down and babble/hum as if you are singing.
  • You are the wigglest baby EVER!  You hate to sit and only want to stand.  You are constantly on the move and looking around.
  • You started "reaching" for us to hold you this month.  If I sit down on the ground beside you then you will reach out and lunge toward me to hold you.
  •  You started rolling around consecutively this month with the purpose of going somewhere.  You try to get up on all fours but you are not quite there.  You do scoot backwards sometimes.

  • You have the best facial expressions.  You are always wrinkling your nose when someone talks to you.
  • You moved up to the duck back this month and you love it!  Bath time is still your favorite!

  • You favor mommy the most and mommy can also make you laugh the most!  I dare to say that you are a momma's girl.
  • You love Lincoln.  Last week when I picked Lincoln up from the baby sitters you started giggling when he got in the car.

  • You continue to LOVE your paci.
  • Your first tooth came in this month.  It is on the bottom.
  • You have started to get a little jealous when I am holding Lincoln instead of you.  So we often have to all cuddle up together.

Here is the comparison with you and Lincoln this month.  You continue to look "older" than Lincoln at the same age.  And in fact you are much "taller" than him at this age and probably weigh a little more.

Emmy-girl, you are such a bright spot in our day!  You are so pleasant and love our attention.  You have the most beautiful blue eyes that have quite the sparkle to them.  We could not love you anymore if we tried!  Happy 8 months sweet girl!
