Easter Twenty-Eleven.

We spent Easter weekend here at our house.  My parents came up to celebrate with us.  Unfortunately, we stayed inside most of the weekend like most of NWA due to the substantial amount of rain we have been getting.  I would not even be lying if I said it has not stopped raining, thundering and lightening since Thursday.  We are going on about 90 hours of non-stop rain!  D-pressing!   I would not be a happy person if I lived in Seattle.

On Sunday morning, our church performed a "drama" reenacting the crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus.  It is chilling how real the performance appears.  It makes you wonder about the people in that day who witnessed this.  How could you NOT believe??  It was a great service!

Look at this sweet little stud muffin of an man in his Easter threads!

This is his GQ model look.  :)

Balloooooon

Lincoln's favorite word and thing right now are balloons! He says it with such emphasis. I had to prompt him to say it for these two videos. However, on any given day it is not uncommon for him to say the word balloon 40 times! Enjoy!

Walking in Memphis

Currently, two of my very good friends live in Memphis!  So, we loaded up and headed there for the weekend.  What a refreshing blessing. Ahhhh! What normally should take 5 hours took more like 6.5 hours due to a wreck that left us sitting still on the freeway for about 1.5 hours. Yikes! {Side note: Lincoln is NOT a fan of the carseat. Never has been. He wants to be out and about -- not restricted} Thanks to a new installed DVD player, the ride was about 40% better for him but he still just wants to be FREE.  {Another side note: Lincoln does not sit still long enough to watch TV at home or else where, but I guess he decided that if you are going to be stuck in a carseat then he mine as well watch it and enjoy it some.}  Long story short, there were happy moments, long and loud crying moments and sleeping moments but all-in-all he was a trooper and we managed.

We arrived at the Paslay family home about 11:30 p.m and stayed up {including Lincoln} till about 1:00 a.m. chatting. Saturday we enjoyed a lazy morning around the house while the boys caught up on some sleep! Next we got some lunch at Newk's before heading to the Memphis Zoo. It was slightly hot but we enjoyed seeing all the different animals.

Train ride time.  The Paslay Fam.

"Look at all the animals, Mommy!"

Saturday evening we enjoyed some yummy BBQ, chatted and laughed.  On Sunday we attended the Paslay's new church where Justin is now on staff.  The worship was amazing and the message, also amazing, was on the fall of Samson.  When church was over we unfortunately had to say our goodbyes.  We lived 20 feet from the Paslay's for 3.5 years so the 5 hour distance seems forever away.  The weekend was relaxing, comfortable, and refreshing.  We miss our dear friends.

Our next stop in Memphis was to meet this sweet and adorable bundle of boy --

Rowin Cross Conner!

Rowin and I were having a heart-to-heart about what a great Aunt Cari I am going to be! :)

Beka and I with our baby boys!
We are extremely blessed to have the friendship of the Paslays and Conners in our life!  Although it was a quick trip with lots of time in the car it was completely worth it to see all these fantastic faces in one weekend

(And I am VERY glad that soon the Conners will be only 2.5 hours away as of this summer when Clint becomes Dr. Conner the dentist!)

Lincoln Lately - 14 months

I wasn't sure that I would keep up the "monthly" posts on Lincoln but instead I had planned to switch to more of an every other month post or occasional post. However, he is changing and growing so quickly that I just find myself needing to document what he is up to.

So, on that note here is what Lincoln Miles had been doing this past month:

  • He weighs about 24 pounds and is about 30.5 inches tall. Longer torso, shorter legs :)
  • He wears a size four diaper, 12-18 month clothing and size 4-5 shoe
  • He takes one nap a day from about 12:30 till about 3:00
  • He has all of his first year molars and all four "eye-teeth" have broken through as well -- total of 16 teeth.
  • He eats a TON of food and he is not picky

    • His throwing of food and the sippy cup seems to have all but stopped or at least slowed down
    • He drinks one bottle a day at bedtime
    • He has added the words ball, uh-oh, balloon (pronounced "bulln") and bird to his vocab. He is a fan of all words with a "b"
    • His new signs are brushing teeth, please and telephone
    • He has an obsession with balloons. He can spot them from a mile away and points at them, says "bulln" till we go over and see them
    • He LOVES to go outside.

    • He sill won't give kisses but he loves to give hugs by laying his head on you and saying "awww" as he gives the hug
    • He is understanding more and more the difference between right and wrong and while he stands there and thinks about it there is still about a 50/50 chance he'll still choose the "wrong" choice.
    • He LOVES balls and cars -- any shape or size!

        • He got his first ear infection this month since his tubes on December 17th, but it was treated with ear drops and healed quickly
        • The words that have been used to describe him by those around him include: sweet, precious, adorable, all-boy, awesome and stinker (I think that last one might have come from me!) :)
        • He requires lots of attention and just wants to be with people all the time. He loves an audience.
        • He has a thing for feet and kind of always has -- he likes to touch my feet, always notices when my toenails are painted a new freshly painted, enjoys finding my shoes and then acting like he is putting them on my feet and recently has liked to lay his head on my feet and say "awww." Apparently, Uncle Cody use to do the same thing about laying his head on my MIL's feet.
        • He added Tennessee to his states of visiting when we took a road trip to Memphis to visit The Paslays, The Conners and meet his new friend Rowin. So, now he has been to Missouri, Illinois, Georgia and Tennessee.

      • He also had his first trip to the zoo in Memphis. More details to come on the Memphis trip in an upcoming post.

        • It is always exciting to see what the next month will bring with our ever-growing and ever-changing Lincoln!
