14 weeks.

14 weeks today.

This is the worst quality picture EVER!  My camera keeps putting a shadow behind me and it is driving me crazy.  This was taken without a flash then edited black and white.  I first started taking pictures at 12 weeks with Lincoln but when I was 12 weeks the last thing I wanted was my picture taken.  I have had a rough month of intense morning sickness.  When I was pregnant with Lincoln I started feeling better at 14 weeks.  And this morning I woke up feeling much better.  Here is hoping it stays this way!

Hopefully by 16 weeks I will figure out the camera so I can start taking pictures and comparing it with when I was pregnant with Lincoln.

Happy Saturday.

Spilling the beans

Just to back track a little bit, I have to tell the story of how I told Cory I was pregnant.

I took a pregnancy test the morning of Cory's birthday (August 16).  The test came back VERY FAINTLY positive but positive nonetheless.  I debated all day if I should tell Cory or just take another test the next morning and see if it was any darker.  By noon that day I had convinced myself to wait and tell him tomorrow.  However, once I got home and made his birthday dinner I decided to just go for it.  So, when he got home we had dinner and he opened presents.  After he opened all his wrapped gifts I told him he had one more gift in the kitchen.  He said "O, did you make me a cake?"  I just laughed it off.  So he looked around the kitchen a minute and then I said, "You have to look in the oven."  So when he opened the oven door this is what he saw...

It took him a good 5 or 6 seconds before he turned around while still hunched over and said "Are you for real?"  I busted out laughing.  {It is a "bun in the oven" in case you are confused}.  It is VERY rare that I can truly surprise Cory so this was a classic moment.  He was of course very excited and I was glad I was finally able to tell him after keeping it a secret all day!  I did explain to him that it was faintly positive but that I took the test WAY early so it could be wrong.  Although I felt like I was pregnant.  I took a test the next day and it was much darker.  I then had my blood drawn twice within 48 hours and all my levels were doubling like they should.

Next, we were on to tell our parents.  We waited about 2 weeks later {Labor Day weekend} to tell our parents.  My parents were coming up for the weekend and I had been feeling pretty sick so I knew I would have to tell them or they would figure it out.  When we told them we were pregnant with Lincoln we gave them a heart-shaped box (since my due date was Valentine's Day) with Baby Ruth bars in them and the ultrasound pictures.  So this time we decided to again be creative with the delivery of our news.  We brainstormed ideas and decided we would go with an "umbrella" theme since the baby was due in April.  We also decided to keep "Baby Ruths" as part of it too since we did that last time.  So Cory came up with the idea of tying the Baby Ruth candy bars to the underneath side of the umbrella so they would dangle down when opened up.

So, on Friday night after my parents arrived we chatted for a little bit and then Cory brought up to my dad (the weather buff) the topic of all the hurricanes hitting the East coast.  Then Cory walks in the dining room, opens the umbrella with dangling Baby Ruth bars and walks back in the living room.  He then says "Well I hear there is a big hurricane coming next April called Hurricane Babe".  My mom got it right away but not so much my dad.  It took him a little while to figure it out.  I was sitting the couch crying I was laughing so stinkin hard!  Here is a picture I took later of Cory with the umbrella.

Cory told his parents using the Hurricane Babe story too but over the phone.  His dad caught on pretty fast but his mom cracked us up.  She did not get it at first and told Cory there was no way that the weather people could predict this far out about hurricanes.  We were rolling on the floor.

We have definitely had fun with sharing our news!

The Scoop

We are very excited about having another baby. I have a couple of fun stories and memories that have occurred in the past 2 months of finding out and knowing that I want to journal.  I'll first start with the first ultrasound and heartbeat!

First Ultrasound
We went for our first ultrasound on Tuesday, September 13th.  I was 7 weeks, 3 days.  We saw the heart beat flicking right away. Praise the Lord! Dr. P said I measured for a due date of April 28th which was the exact due date I came up with before going.  I was glad I measured on track.  When I went in with Lincoln for the early ultrasound I measured about 5 days behind what I had figured up.  Here are two of the first pictures of the sweet little baby.

First Heartbeat Sound
I went on Wednesday, October 12th for my first appointment to hear the heartbeat.  When Dr. P put the Doppler on my stomach we heard a lot of commotion.  She commented how active the baby was being.  The heartbeat was 150 bpm which is exactly what Lincoln's was at this point in the pregnancy and every heartbeat check throughout the pregnancy.  That sound truly never gets old.

I am so grateful to be exiting the first trimester.  I have been more sick (throwing up) this time around than I was with Lincoln.  With Lincoln my first trimester was while I was off in the summer and I did not have a toddler to chase after.  It has been rough having to get up early a few mornings for work and keeping up with Lincoln.  I also had to take progesterone again this time around, but I am able to stop that now and I am SO happy.

Up next, the story of how Cory and our parents found out we were preggo!

The Wonder Place

This weekend we went to visit Papa and Gigi (my parents).  While we were there we decided to use the tickets on Groupon that my mom bought to The Wonder Place in Little Rock.  It is a interactive play place that is geared towards younger children to learn and explore different types of activities.  They have a water table center, a dress up stage, a play grocery store, a center with sand and other stations.  It is a really neat place.  My mom's pass on groupon was for $7 and it admitted 2 adults.  I am not sure how the pricing works but me, Cory, Lincoln, my mom and dad all ended up getting in for that $7 pass.  It seemed like a good deal to me!

Here are some pictures of Lincoln enjoying the different activities.

We stayed about an hour and Lincoln kept moving the whole time.  His favorite thing was definitely the water table and the tubes that you put the balls of yarn into and it shoots them out.  If you are in the area and looking for something new to do I highly recommend it.  Thanks Papa and Gigi for a fun time!

And Sunday evening we stopped off in Conway at Clint, Beka and Rowin's house to visit.  Lindsey also came over to hang out.  Clint and Beka recently moved back to Conway and it is nice to have them closer.  Lincoln was all up in Rowin's personal space.  Rowin hung out in the exersaucer and Lincoln kept going over to him and hugging him and kissing him.  Rowin was a good sport but I am pretty sure he was glad we made Lincoln stop bothering him!!

Happy Tuesday!!
