Everything Emery {5 months}

Happy 5 months, Emery Claire!!

You are getting so big and starting to show more aspects of your personality.  You love attention and do not enjoy being left alone in a room.  You will cry when you realize you are alone for too long and as soon as me or your daddy walks in the room you smile so big.  Your favorite place is on mommy's hip walking around the house!  You might be a tad bit spoiled.  You are very determined to get all things in your mouth.  Your favorite challenge is trying to get your paci in your mouth.  You will work for 5-10 minutes trying and you usually end up with the wrong side in your mouth.  And you will let out this cry of frustration but you will not give up.  You keep trying.  You show us lots of facial expressions and you are just the sweetest thing.

Let's see what you have been up to this month:
  • You probably weigh about 15 lbs and are about 27 inches long.
  • You eat about every 3 hours.  You are now drinking Enfamil Gentlease instead of the Alimentum.  You seem to tolerate it well and it does not upset your tummy or make you constipated.  You drink a total of 5 bottles at 6 ounces each.
  • You wake up so happy in the mornings and at naptime.  You give this big open mouth smile and start wiggling all over!  So sweet.
  • You still take Prevacid every day.
  • We plan to start you on solid foods this week.

  • You take about 2-3 naps each day.  You have a pretty consistent nap schedule because we have worked hard on it for you.  You take your morning nap from 9:30-11:00 and then you stay away till your afternoon nap which is from 1:45 till about 4:30 or 5:00 every day.  You sometimes take a very short evening nap around 6:30 and then you go to bed about 7:30 p.m. and sleep till 7:30 or 8:00 each morning
  • You love to sleep with your lovie over you face - just like your big brother!

  • You rarely wake up throughout the 12 hours of sleep.  It amazes me because Lincoln use to wake up a few times a night at this age.
  • You sleep mainly on your stomach
  • You are wearing size 3-6 month and 6-9 month clothing.  You are still wearing size 2 diapers but the next ones we buy will be size 3.
  • You do not love the swing as much as you use to

  • You still do not like it when I put lotion on you after a bath.  You cry very loudly!
  • You roll from your tummy to your back very well.  You can get back over to your back but you have to be very determined to do it.
  • You want to constantly chew on my fingers or arm.  You do not show any signs of getting any teeth yet.  Lincoln's first teeth broke through at this age.
  • You have started to really love your daddy.  When he talks to you, you have the biggest open mouth smile on your face and just wiggle all over.

  • Your hair is growing in more.  The color of it depends on the lighting in the room.  It sometimes look blonde, red and brown.
  • You still have bright blue eyes!
  • You love for us to laugh at you and you will laugh back at us.  You also loved to be bounced up and down.  It always makes you get tickled and laugh.

  • You have been babbling more and your voice has a "raspy" tone to it.  Lincoln's was the same way at this age.  When you really get to talking you start blowing rasperry's like you are really telling us about something important.  It cracks us up.
  • We have been practicing sitting you up but you still have a way to go before you conquer that.
  • You are such a sweet baby -- you love to grab my arm and hug it while I am changing your diaper, you love to hold my figure while I am feeding our the bottle and you just find so much comfort in being able to just see me.

  • You have one dimple on your right cheek that Aunt Heather first noticed when you were just 6 weeks old.  It is becoming more evident when you smile.
  • You started playing in the exersaucer this month and you like it, you also like to chew on anything you can including your toes!

  • Lincoln loves you so much.  He loves to tell you "Good morning, Emmy" or 'I wuv you sugar britches."  While you are laying on the floor playing he often goes over to you and practically lays on top of you to talk to you and hug and kiss you.  I think you are pretty big fan of him too!

We are so happy to have you in our home, Emery!  You are such a joy to all of us.  I love being able to spend everyday with you and take care of you.  Thank you for making my job as a mommy much easier with your easy going self.  We love you our sweet, sweet girl!!

Sitting up??

Look at how happy she is practicing sitting up. She can sit there a few seconds but she leans forward really far and usually falls over pretty fast! She sure has a big smile on her face though!

Playa Del Carmen: Phone pics and Wrap-up

Of course, I took a few pictures here and there from my phone and I thought it would be fun to blog those as well as wrapping up the loose ends of the trip.

We had to be up super early to catch our 6:00 a.m. flight out of XNA.

This shirt was in the XNA Airport.  Gotta love ho we represent ourselves in Arkansas!
A picture of the entrance to our resort outside the van as we were driving by
The very first picture I took of the beach at our resort from the lobby as soon as we got there.

Not sure how to caption this... Cory being cool?!? :)

Umm...me at the beginning of a tough day at the pool
The infamous chairs in the water we loved so much!

A friend let me borrow her Kindle to read the Hunger Games.  I was able to read book one and two while on the trip and I am currently halfway through book three!  Such a great series.

Me with my "beach curls" that as soon as I walked out of the room the humidity zapped them back to straight!
Coast at Tulum
Ruins

There were several of these statues all over the resort

I have to admit that I very much missed Chick-fil-A and during our layover in Atlanta we got ourselves a chicken sandwich!

We got home around 3:30 on Tuesday and Lincoln was VERY excited to see us (Well, definitely Cory!).  He saw me first and said "Hi mommy, Where did daddy go?"  That evening we went to eat pizza and play games at Chuck-E-Cheese.  Lincoln loved having the four of us back together.

Lincoln singing songs with the kids and Chuck-E-Cheese
And here is Emery in the stroller while Lincoln played all the games and had a blast.  She was "cool as a cucumber" in her seat just hanging out.  She is so laid back.  She gets that from her daddy, not her mommy!

Cory's mom and stepdad kept the kids the first 2.5 days and my parents kept them the last 2.5 days.  Both sets said they did great while we were gone!  (But are the grandparents REALLY going to tell us anything other than they were "perfect"?  Probably not!)  :)  We were very grateful that they were all so eager to watch them so we could enjoy this amazing trip together!  It was so nice to have so much time to talk to Cory without being interrupted.  We made some great memories together and had many moments of great laughter.  It was good for the soul.  I am thankful to my amazing husband for planning this awesome trip!  It was the perfect gift for this 30 year old :)
