Weekend at Mimi and Poppy's

A few weekends ago we headed south so spend the weekend at Mimi and Poppy's house (Cory's mom and stepdad).  About the actual trip, we have always had a hunch that Lincoln may be one to get carsick but this trip helped confirm it.  We took the backroads which is about two hours of two lane roads and Lincoln cried the whole time.  Overtime he has become a pretty good traveler so it only made sense that the roads were upsetting his stomach.  We finally stomped and I climbed in the back seat with him.  Once I did that and held his hand and talked to him he was asleep in 5 minutes.  Bless his heart.

Ok back to the weekend.  Poppy was mainly at the deer camp all weekend but he stopped by a few times to visit.  In fact the first time he stopped by to visit was Saturday morning with the deer he had just killed.  Lincoln was not sure what to think of the dead animal that did not make any animal sounds.

Later on that morning Cory's twin brother and his family came over to hang out with us.  We played out in the yard with the leaves, ate lunch and then went to the park at the local elementary school down the street.

We had a great time visiting and hanging out with all of our family!

And, we arrived home on Sunday evening just in time for the bonfire/hayride at our small group leaders house.  I only took this one picture all night.  I guess I busy having too much fun.

17 weeks.

Well it is officially the 17 week mark with Baby #2!

I have days where I feel great and days I have been sick.  I started being sick (throwing up) around the 8 week mark and would be sick about once ever three days till the 14 week mark.  From 14 weeks till 17 weeks I have only been sick about once a week sometimes twice a week.  I hope it ends soon though.  I have days where I feel great so I am optimistic it will end soon.

I felt the baby flutter at 12 weeks which was WAY earlier than with Lincoln.  I was 17 weeks with Lincoln before I felt the first flutter.  I started off only feeling the flutter about once a week but now I feel the flutters most days!

At my doctor's appointment at 15.5 weeks the baby's heartbeat was 145 bpm.  Lincoln's was always around the 145-150 mark.  We also heard the baby's little tiny hiccups.  Lincoln had the hiccups ALL the time in the womb and till he was about 3 months old.

My energy has not quite returned to 100% and with chasing Lincoln around it may not return till Baby #2 is 6 months old!  Ha!  I am still (obviously) still not sure how to get rid of the shadow behind me (except back light me with a spot light or buy a better flash -- both of which seem silly for this monthly picture!) :)  On the left is me at 16 weeks with Lincoln and on the right me at 17 weeks with baby #2.

  • You are still sleeping 12 hours at night with a 2-3 hour afternoon nap
  • You just started wearing size 5 diapers

Halloween Festivities

We spent Halloween weekend at my parents house.  On Saturday we enjoyed some ribs while we watched the Hogs barely win their game.  Sunday we went to my parents church and that evening before heading back we went to Trunk or Treat at their church.

Our sweet little Wild Thing all dressed up.  Lincoln LOVES the book Where the Wild Things Are. During the book when the Wild Things dance we made up this little tune "Na Na Na Na" type thing.  He has picked up the tune and walks around holding the book singing it.  He wasn't too sure about wearing the costume at first but he loved to hold it and look at it.  He would ask for it by saying "Na na?" and when we would put it away he would say "bye bye na na."

On Monday evening we went to our friend Harper's birthday party.  This was our second year to celebrate with Harper.  The party was tons of fun.  Caroline, Harper's mom, did a great job making fun Halloween-inspired foods.  I was too busy chasing Lincoln to get any good pics but here are a few.  Lincoln ended up eating a sucker and getting a balloon so he rated it the most fun party he has ever been too.

A picture of Lincoln, Harper (Elmo) and Hayley (Lady Bug) from a cell phone.

Lincoln's night was complete with his balloon.  His fake smile cracks me up.

When we got home from Harper's party we went to trick-or-treat at a couple of our neighbor's house.  I wish I would have taken my camera b/c Lincoln caught on super fast and had a fun time.  In fact, he was so eager for the candy that he pushed the door open and walked right into 2 of our neighbors homes!  He has since continued his knocking skills that he learned by going over and knocking on our front door.

Halloween #2 is in the books.

Remembering Jill

Three years ago our sweet friend entered the gates of Heaven.  I STILL think of her so often and selfishly miss her.  Sunday night on the way home from our weekend at my parents, Cory and I had a long conversation about her.  We talked about her life, her ministry and her death.  We reflected on how we each met her and knew her individually and collectively!  I truly treasured my friendship with Jill.  She mentored me and kept me accountable through the scripture like no one ever has. She knew how to make the most mudane activity fun and she constantly had a heart to serve others.

I think of her often and miss her sweet presence.

And because life moves on, look at this Halloween picture I stole from Scott's facebook of Bryce(Jill's son) .  There is no denying who his momma is.  Praying he grows up knowing what a special momma he had.  I know there will be hundreds of people to testify to it.

Sweet boy.
