Labor Day Weekend 2010

On Labor Day weekend, my parents came up to visit and hang out with us. We had such a great time! On Friday night, they watched Lincoln so we could enjoy a much-needed date night. Here we are before heading out!

Then on Saturday, they helped us load up and bring home our newly purchased leather sectional. We decided to do some rearranging in our living room in order to make more seating and in turn more room for Lincoln to roll around. We are still on the lookout for a new coffee table/ottoman but no luck yet. In fact we are considering doing a makeover to our coffee table and turning it into an ottoman. Maybe one day when it we finish it I'll post pictures of the final product. As of now its still a major work in progress. Later on that day we ordered Whole Hog BBQ in honor of watching the first Razorback game of the season. We were all decked out in our Hog gear!

Lincoln, Sooiiee bear and Cory being silly!

Sunday after church we headed to the great city of Branson. Where we shopped till we dropped and ate all sorts of good food. Lincoln was a good little shopper!
Then we stayed the night at the Hilton down at the Branson Landing. We were upgraded to a condo once we got there and the balcony overlooked the fountain and fire show they do each evening. Here is a picture from my phone from our balcony of the fire and fire show. It was soo cool.

And before leaving on Monday we had to go the "big rocking chair" and get Lincoln's picture taken.

We had such a fabulous weekend!!

Seven months old.

Happy 7 months Lincoln Miles!!

This month has definitely moved quickly with us celebrating mine and Cory's birthdays as well as me starting back to work! And I have to admit -- this has a been a tough month for us too. For starters, transitioning into me working part time and Lincoln attending daycare has/is still tough for us somedays. And secondly, Lincoln developed his first ear infection and then caught a "viral rash" from a fellow classmate! The congestion apparently stirred back up his reflux (which our trusty pediatrician explained can happen) and caused Lincoln to majorly regress and he is spitting up like never before. All I can say is that luckily my mom let us borrow her carpet cleaner b/c it has been much needed. Our pediatrician told us to double his meds for a little bit to get through this regression and then we could wean him off the meds.

With all of this being said, not all days have been bad! As a whole, Lincoln is a trooper even when he is sick and you wouldn't even know anything is wrong with him! He loves to sit up and play with his toys, clap and jabber a "dadada/gaga" combination. I have not noticed any indication that he is close to crawling thus far. He does cry anytime he is left alone in the room. He doesn't care who is in the room with him as long as he is not by himself.

Seven month stats:

  • He weighs about a couple of ounces shy of 18 lbs. and is about 27 or so inches long
  • He is still wearing some 3-6 months (especially shorts) and he has JUST NOW starting wearing 6-9 month clothes
  • He sleeps from about 7:30p.m.-6:30a.m. every night (we have had some night wakenings during the sickness but knock on wood he always returns to sleeping the whole night through) and takes anywhere from 2-3 naps that range from 45 minutes to an hour and a half.
  • He was transitioning to only eating 4 times a day but that appeared to make his reflux worse so we are back to eating 5 times a day.
  • He has started eating Yo Baby yogurt this month -- likes banana more than blueberry but pretty much still eats anything you put on the spoon.
  • He has also added several other veggies and fruits.
  • He also enjoys mum mum crackers and a piece of ice inside of a mesh-food feeder.
  • He is our own little Rock Star.

      • We did cut his hair a tiny bit this month b/c the areas above the ears was growing VERY long and almost covering each ear so we had to trim it.
      • He has always loved to stare at and study things but this month he will turn his head sideways and stare at things for a while. Its pretty funny.
      • He loves to bang two toys together in his hands and loves to chew on ANYTHING he can get his hands on.

      • He loves to sit and clap his hands. His teacher wrote a note this week that after he woke up from an hour and 45 minute nap (which was the longest by far) he sat clapping for 10 minutes because she said he was so proud of himself!

      • He is jabbering a lot more -- he most frequently jabbers a "ga ga/da da" combination. Its not quite "da/da" but its very close
      • Speaking of, he has become quite the daddy's boy this month!
      • He still only has the 2 bottom middle teeth
      • He is a strong sitter with no indications of being any closer to crawling yet
      • He has started making more facial expressions -- my favorite one is the wrinkled nose smile. This was my best shot at catching it on camera -

O, Lincoln Miles! Our hearts grow every month with more love for your cute little self. We have experienced a new side of parenting this month with taking care of you while you are sick. I understand now what Gigi meant when I was little and she would tell me if she could be sick instead of me she would! We look forward to yet another month with you -- learning about you, teaching you, taking care of you, laughing with you, praying with you and singing songs with you.

We love you, M and D.

      Just a swingin'

Lincoln's first love has always been the swing! I never dreamed on his 7 month birthday he would still love it, but he does! Here is the proof -

A 7 month longer post to come later today with the infamous block picture!!

I just love that little face.

      All boy

This afternoon I had to take Lincoln back to the doc to make sure his ear infection was gone and to get his 6 month shots since he was too sick with the ear infection to get them 2 weeks ago.

I sat him up on the exam table while we waited for the doctor. And he proceeded to rip up the paper on the table out from underneath himself. He was relentless with it tearing it to pieces, putting it in his mouth and flinging it through the air. All while he was doing his karate grunts and stiffening his arms along with it! It was free entertainment for him so I let him have at it. That is, until I started seeing him being successful with eating it and I started having to dig pieces out if his mouth! Isn't it so crazy that he just knows boys are suppose to tear things up and make messes all while grunting?? Here are the pics I took with my phone.

And this is my first post using my phone! I think I'm going to like this. Oh and Lincoln checked out 100% healthy! I think after the doctor saw the mess he made she was convinced he was fine!
