Everything Emery {14 months}

Wow!  I did not realize how busy our last two months have been until I noticed I did not do a 13 month update for Emery.  She is growing up SO quickly that we have been absorbed in enjoying this age.  She is a busy busy girl walking everywhere and into everything but yet she is still pretty laid back and go-with-the-flow.  Several people have commented lately how much she is favoring Cory more with her look, her olive skin tone and her calm personality.  I agree!

Let's see what you are up to Sweet Girl.
  • I would guess you weigh about 24 pounds and you are continually growing in height.  I think you are still in the higher percentiles for both areas.
  • You are wearing 18-24 month clothing and some 2T.  Especially if it is a dress it has to be bigger so it is long enough on you.  You are also bigger through your ribcage so we often have to get get bigger sizes to fit you through there.
  • You wear a size 3/4 in shoes
  • You are wearing size 4 diapers but next time I plan to buy size 5

  • You have recently gotten in all four of you one year molars - that brings you to a total of 10 teeth.
  • You are somewhat of a picky eater.  Your favorite things to eat are bananas, mac-n-cheese, corn, hot dogs and ANYTHING sweet.  You are still drinking soy milk and you prefer milk to drink over any other option.  You still drink one bottle at bedtime but I think we will take that away this next month.

  • You are picking up quickly on sign language - you use "all done" when finished eating, you clap for "more" and you sign "food" and "bath" and "please"
  • You words include - mama, dada, bubba, hi, bye, uh-oh, yo and I think you have recently started saying "baby" in your own made up way.

  • You love your paci and still use it to sleep.  I try to keep it as a crib thing but sometimes in the evening you do best when you have it.
  • Around 13 months you went to one nap a day.  I try to stretch you till 1:00 for the nap so it coincides with Lincoln's nap but usually by 12:15-12:30 you are more than ready to nap.  You go to bed about 7:45 each night and sleep till 7:30 each morning.
  • You started loving to sleep ON your bumper around 13 months.  So we gave you a small pillow and you often sleep on it.

  • You have recently found a big love for bracelets and purses.  You love to walk around with a bracelet on your arm, with your arm extended showing everyone your bracelet
  • You have been experiencing quite a bit of stranger/seperation anxiety these last 2 months.  One Sunday between 12-13 months, during your nursery stay at church they had to push you around in the stroller.  The workers told me later that they think you were stressed out by all the babies crying.
  • You and Lincoln have quite the love/hate relationship.  When things are good they are really good - you love to have him chase you, play at his train table with him or play in your kitchen with him.  He can knock you over and tackle you and you think it is funny.  However, when he is playing too rough and you are not in the mood then if he even brushes by you gently you fall down to the ground and start crying.

  • Several of our friends who are around you often think that you never cry and ask me if you ever do.  You do cry - mainly b/c you want me to stop what I am doing and hold you or you are hungry or tired.  Your cries can usually be remedied quickly and easily.
  • You have started giving mommy hugs and sugars.  You are better at hugs.  You lay your head on my shoulder and say "awww."  However, the other day while I was holding you you leaned over and kissed me on the lips unprompted.

Your main nickname lately is "sweet girls" as me and Lincoln call you.  We love your sweet little self to pieces and could not imagine our family without your presence making in brighter each day.  We love you sweet girls.

O'Dell's Take Grayton: The end

Well, the rest of our week basically consisted of beach time.  Our home was in a neighborhood across from the beach so we had about an 5-8 minute walk to the beach.  So when we went we were sure to load up everything we could possibly want during our stay.  This was a sweet picture of Cory pulling our loot and Linc riding on Papa's shoulders.

Emery had a great time in her little pool.  I highly recommend this if taking little ones to the beach.  It was even a hit with the older cousins.  And as the week went on she became more comfortable with the sand and even played with her cousins some.

On Thursday evening we headed out to Baytown Wharf.  It is a neat little village area with shops, restaurants, a park, a few small kid rides and an arcade.  Our first stop while there was the arcade.  Emery just enjoyed looking cute in her Mud Pie bday outfit from Mimi.

Carter (her oldest cousin, age 7 stopped and asked me to take his picture with her.

Lincoln loves him so skee ball.  This was the first time he was able to get it up over the ledge and score in the bottom area

Skee ball was a family event.

After the arcade we went to eat dinner at Poppy's at Baytown.  While we were waiting on our food my niece suggested we take our picture together.  Summer is a hoot.  Earlier this day we were in the pool playing and she told Papa that he was "ruining her moment" (in a nice way).  So all throughout dinner we had a fun time teasing each other about her phrase.

Tilly and Lincoln were having too much fun with each other during dinner.

After dinner we walked out on the dock and pier.  There was a band playing music.  Lincoln and Tilly stopped in front of the band and danced for a little bit.  After the song was over the lead singer of the band commented on their great dancing skills. Ha!

We did stop off to attempt a picture of Papa and Gigi with all their grandkids.  Carter (age 7), Summer (age 5), Tilly (age 4), Story (age 3), Lincoln (age 3) and Emery (age 13 months).

And our family of 4.

And before we headed home for the evening, Carter rode the zipline!

Friday was our last day.  Story wanted to comb Lincoln hair before we headed to the beach.  And even Papa got in on the makeover.

And here are the pictures from our last day on the beach.  I love this family picture of us.

Friday night we went to eat dinner at a Hibachi grill.  Before we left, these three sweet girls asked me to fix their hair.  Earlier in the week, I gave them a "makeover" by using the flat iron on their hair, painting their finger nails and toe nails as well as a little make up.  So when Friday night came around I did their hair.  No worries on me quitting my day job to do hair but I sure did enjoy my attempts at fixing their hair.  Each one had a specific request on what they wanted me to do.  I remember when I was growing up my Aunt Karen lived with my grandparents and I was OBSESSED with sitting at her make-up table and looking through her make up.  I often asked her to put some on me.  It is fun to be on the other side of this relationship.  I love being an aunt.

Friday evening we attempted some family pictures on the beach but the wind was CRAZY.  So here are few of the ones we got.

Saturday morning we loaded up and headed to my parent's house in Bryant.  We were not in a hurry to get home and wanted to spend sometime at "home" to see Cory's dad and brother's family.  I love this sweet picture of Emmy cuddling with her baby doll.

Lincoln was actually our better car rider for this trip.  She would do well for a while and even got into watching the movies but after a short time she was itching to get out of her seat. We kept giving her snacks and drinks to keep her happy.

We had such a fun time on our vacation.  This was our 3rd time to stay in this home called "House of Blues" but we all agreed that our family is quickly outgrowing it.  I think when we return, probably in 2 years, we will need a new place.  The first time we stayed here I was 6-7 weeks pregnant with Lincoln, the 2nd time was Lincoln's first beach trip and he was 15 months and now this time was Emery's first beach trip and she is 13 months.  Lots of fun memories made in this home!

Thank you, Papa and Gigi for making this trip possible.  Our family of 4 loved it all and Lincoln is still talking about the "big" waves.
