Big Brother

I have been asked often how Lincoln is handling the transition to being a big brother.  At first, he was scared of her.  He did not want to get too close to her or touch her.  He was also distracted by all the grandparents and cousins in town to visit to really have too much of an opinion.  One thing is definite, he was NOT a fan of us being in the hospital.  He came up there three nights to see us (long story why we were there for three evenings) but on the third evening he was completely stressed out that we were still there.  In fact, within the first hour of me being home he kept saying over and over again "mommy's home!"  Bless his sweet heart.

After we brought her home he began to warm up to her pretty quickly.  He calls her Emmy and often ask where she is at.  He loves to come up to her and say "Hi, Emmy" and give her a hug and kiss.  He loves the mat on the floor we lay her on and often joins her on there.  I have been able to catch a few pictures of them together.

Lincoln, you are a great big brother!  We love you!

Easter Weekend

On Easter weekend we had a visitor - Pop (as Lincoln has shortened his name from Poppa Don).  Cory's dad came up to visit for Thursday through Saturday and we stayed busy the whole time he was here.  Friday night we took Lincoln and Pop to their first Razorback baseball game.  Lincoln did pretty good at the game.  He sat in his chair people watching for the first 4 innings with no problem.  It helped that there were 2 little girl "cheerleaders" sitting a few rows behind us to keep his interest.  However, around the 4th inning he saw "Rippy" the baseball mascot and he was trying everything he could to get to the mascot.  So we decided to go on a walk to try and find the mascot so Lincoln could meet him.  We finally got close enough to get his picture with him.  Lincoln was giddy with excitement to be so close.  Rippy even signed Lincoln's baseball.  His excitement is easily seen through his wide eyes.

Saturday morning we went to local church for their helicopter egg drop.  Lincoln LOVES "airpanes" so this event did not disappoint.  Most of the eggs were already out but the helicopter dropped a few more.

The Easter egg hunt was CROWDED.  So, needless to say Lincoln only ended up with two eggs.  I guess we need to work on picking up eggs a little bit more quickly!  Each egg had a tootsie roll in them and he thought he had won the lottery.  It was his first time to have a tootsie roll and he ate them as though he was a veteran!

Since the Easter egg hunt was somewhat of a flop for Lincoln (although he really did not know it was a flop) we decided to do a little hunt for him in our backyard after church on Sunday.  He was so excited to hunt for the eggs but even more excited that there was candy inside!

We had a great weekend and look forward to Easter next year with TWO little ones!

Room Swap

Well, for several weeks we had planned that the first weekend of March would be the weekend we would move Lincoln out of the nursery to the extra bedroom and in turn get the nursery ready for Emery.  We decided that this process would go over much more smoothly if Lincoln was not around.  (Sorry, buddy).  He is so curious and right in the middle of everything that it was just not a good idea.  So, we arranged for him to spend the weekend with my parents.  So, on Thursday night I took a picture of him in his nursery for the last night.  No worries though, it was not his last night in his crib.  The crib made the move with him :)

Look at how sweet he looks in the bed!

So, I met my parents halfway on Friday afternoon and handed him off. It was his first time to spend away from both me and Cory. We have each spent time away from him but not both of us at the same time. It was so strange not having him around.  It really is crazy how soon your forget what life was like with no children.  So, Friday evening when I returned we got started. We moved all of Lincoln's things to the guest bedroom and that was my project while Cory started painted the nursery.

Here is a picture from my phone of what Lincoln's new room and the nursery looked like before we started.

One fun thing that I had seen on pinterest that I wanted to do for Lincoln's room was to make him his own "scoreboard."  We were wanting to go with a sports theme in his new room but somehow it turned into a baseball room (Ahemm....Cory!).  So for the weeks leading up the weekend we had worked on making him the scoreboard.  Here is a picture of it in progress.

We painted a piece of wood all white then taped it off with tape, letters and number and then painted over all of with Fenway (Red Sox) green!  Then we peeled the paint off to get the final product.

As I worked on organizing Lincoln's new room, Cory was busy painting Emery's nursery gray.  I am so pleased with the gray that we ended up with.  It is a little dark but very warm and perfect.  It is Elephant Skin by Behr.  We also took the tree from Lincoln's nursery and put it back on a white patch of wall and painted over it gray.  I think it turned out so great!

For the weekend we were able to get Lincoln's room about 85% done.  All we lack is hanging some decorations on the wall.  We got the walls painted in the nursery but still needed to paint the ceiling and put the crib together. Here is a sneak peak of Lincoln's room and the nursery thus far.  I hope to have both room put together in the next 2 weeks and I will post completed pictures.

Thanks Papa and Gigi for keeping Lincoln while we worked ourselves to death!
It was a huge help!

Family Party

The weekend after Lincoln's birthday we headed to central AR for a small family birthday party to celebrate our little guy.  We had lunch at the local Mexican restaurant since Chips and Salsa is one of Lincoln's favorites.

We then headed to my parents for some cake and presesnts.  As well as having fun bouncing on the bounce house with his cousins.  Lincoln recieived a tricycle for his birthday.  The kids were taking turns riding around the house being pushed.  On one of Lincoln's turns he was wearing his bicycle helmet over low over his eyes while being pushed and fell asleep!  They had to catch him so he would not fall off the tricycle.

We ended the weekend with our wonderful and fabulous friend Lindsey taking Lincoln's 2 year pictures as well as some maternity pictures.  Click here to see more on her blog.  Here is a sneak peek.

We had a fun birthday weekend for Lincoln and missed those family members that were not able to be there!
