I am a child of the King. I am the wife to a hilariously funny, extremely considerate man of God since 2005! I am the mother to a sweet and adorable little boy, Lincoln Miles, born February 11, 2010 and a beautiful little gal who was born on April 24, 2012. I am a part time school psychology specialist and a full time mom! I find both jobs extremely stressful and tough at times but both are extremely rewarding. I blog as a way to share the blessings that God continually gives us and taking a moment to slow down and journal them. And, of course, to share with the grandparents what is happening with the grandchildren.
Wow. Are we really one month away from Emery's first birthday? How is that even possible? She is busy and happy. She loves to be wherever everyone is but she also does well playing alone. She love to wrinkle your nose and smile! And most of all she LOVES mommy's attention. As soon as she sees me she start crawling really fast towards me. She is starting to show a little bit of stranger anxiety but still not much. She is a laid back social gal. She will crawl up to lots of different people and sit in their laps.
I was able to get lots of fun pictures from our 11 month photo shoot. She will wear a hairbow but as soon as she realizes it is up there she rips it right out. I was actually able to put a hairbow in her hair this month without the headband but it falls out really easy.
Let's see what you are up to this month:
You probably weigh around 21 pounds, wear some 9 month but mostly 12 month clothes, size 2 shoes and size 4 diapers.
You still eat 4 bottles a day but tomorrow I plan to start you on just 3 bottles a day. You are not too partial to the bottle. I often lay you down on the boppy to eat it and you will take a few drinks and then flip over and come find me or go see what Lincoln is doing.
You are a little bit of a picky eater. I think cutting your bottles out will help you be more hungry for table food. You will LOVE one thing (i.e. cheese, pancake, crackers) for a week straight and then after that you will not touch it. You are better about eating vegetables and have always done well eating fruits. You eat baby food pretty well -- about 3 oz or so at each meal. I feel like you are not getting enough to eat but I have decided I am comparing you to Lincoln as a baby who ate us out of house and home. I just do not think you have a very big appetite.
You still take two naps a day. Your morning nap somedays can be up to 2 hours and then you will not take a very good afternoon nap. So I wake you up after an hour to an hour and a half of your morning nap. Then your afternoon nap is usually around 2 hours.
You had SEVERAL night wakings this month. After a little research I decided that you were going to bed too late. You would sometimes not go to bed till 8:15 or later. The theory I found was that you were overtired and therefore waking up often restless. So now we make sure you are in bed by 7:45 and then you do not wake up at all. And you sleep till about 7:00.
You LOVE the refrigerator. You crawl super fast and pull up to get your hands on anything you can. And a time or two I may or may not have let you play in there so I could eat a quick bit or do some chores.
You pull up to your feet rather quickly and on your 11 month birthday you started slowly but surely cruising around the ottoman.
You are always wrinkling up your nose and making this funny face. I love it!
You have said quite a few "words" this month -- you continue to say "mama", "dada" and "bubba" as well as "hi", "bye-bye" and you said "ba-ba" in reference to your bottle and one night after daddy told you "night-night" you said "nye-nye"
You play so well with toys. You love just about any toy but you might be a little more partial to stuffed animals and Lincoln's trains. And you also love balls and just about anything you can chew on.
You are a mommy's girl but you also love your daddy quite a bit too.
Your hair is growing longer and longer. It still has a red/brown tint to it as well as some wave/curl in the back.
You have the best blue eyes EVER. They are so bright and shine so brightly.
This past week you just got your 5th and 6th tooth. They were the toughest on you yet.
When I found Lincoln's picture from 11 months and put them side by side I was shocked! I feel like they look like you two could be twins this month. It gives me hope that maybe you will end up with blonde hair after all, like Lincoln. These are two sweet babies right here!
Happy 11 months, sweet girl! I can truly not believe it has almost been a year since you joined our family. You are the most perfect addition and everyone is over the moon about you! We love you!
On
Wednesday we found some empty seats up on this ledge overlooking the
beach. It was such an amazing few! It was by far my favorite spots. We were on our own for lunch so I ordered a crab sandwich and Cory ordered sushi from the swim up sushi bar. He was in heaven.
Late afternoon we had to move from our ledge seats so they could prepare the area for the dinner hour. So we unfortunately had to go to this fabulous spot. I mean these things are only suppose to exist in movies, right? So fun!
Hot tub
On Thursday we joined a group of MRI recruiters on a whale watching cruise. The cruise left out of Cabo so we had to ride a bus about 20 minutes to board the boat.
The yachts with helicopters that we rode by were CRAZY. I mean really, a yacht with your own helicopter?? I assume these were owned by celebrities of some sort.
Our first stop on our cruise was to see the famous "Cabo Arch."
After seeing the rocks we headed further out to see if we could see the whales. There were tons of boats out doing the same thing.
There was a momma whale and a baby whale that we were all following. For the longest time all we could see was it's tail or it's back up out of the water.
However, as were all sitting there in anticipation it jumped out of the water! Luckily, Cory had the camera up and snapped this awesome picture.
We decided to go for a walk on the beach on our last afternoon there. The beach was beautiful. It did have some little pebbles in the sand which made it uncomfortable at first but we got use to it.
These were pictures of our last evening.
Each pacesetter had a star on the wall that they were able to take with them. I made Cory pose with his star.
I
could not be any prouder of Cory's hard work day in and day out on the
phone making calls, connecting with companies and bringing them their ideal candidates. It is such a tough job. We are in awe of God's
blessings and do not take one day for granted. God is truly our provider.
On Monday afternoon (after Kurt and before the awards dinner), Cory and I went and set up shop by the pool. And of course I ordered my drink of choice, Dt. Coke or in Mexico is called Coca-Cola Light. It is much more yummy than Diet Coke.
After enjoying my yummy drink, I was so relaxed that I laid back read a few pages of my book and fell smooth asleep. It was cloudy out with a nice breeze and felt so nice.
However, the breeze and cloudiness were a little deceiving because I woke up from my nap BRIGHT red. I text this picture to my mom that evening to show her my sunburn. Although I am fair complected I normally tan by the next day. Not this time. I was hurting SO bad!
During the awards dinner on Monday evening I started having chills. My skin was "on fiiiiyaaa." (Sorry, had to do it. My theme song for the week that I kept singing over and over to Cory..."This girl is on fiiiyyyaa." He loves me.).
Well on Tuesday Cory went golfing with his boss and tons of other people. So, I slept in and went to eat breakfast by myself. While eating breakfast several people kept commenting how sunburned I was. Gee thanks everyone...I had NO CLUE I was a red bell pepper. So after eating breakfast I went back down by the pool and found a chair with an umbrella and lots of shade. I began reading my book, minding my own business and people kept walking by and stopping to comment on my sunburn. It was crazy. I became known as the girl with the sunburn.
Well a couple of ladies walked by and told me that if I asked a staffer there was a guy who would bring me aloe from the aloe plant. I figured I did not have much to lose so I flagged the next guy down and he told me he would send over some help. About 5 minutes later, a man came up and was just freaking out about my sunburn. He said he would be back in a minute with aloe. Sure enough here he came with a knife and huge aloe leave. He cut it up and put it all over my legs. It was so gross and smelled like a chicken truck. (And believe me we live close to Tyson chicken plants so I know the smell of chicken trucks). It did take the fever out and gave lots of relief. I was also sunburned up on my shoulders and I did not put as much aloe there and I could tell a difference in my sunburn.
He was very helpful and told me that when I needed more to just ask for him. I asked him what was his name so I would know who to ask for. And he handed me his business card.
Yes, you read that correctly. Jorge of the Jungle. Crack me up. He came by several more times and brought me more aloe leaves. I literally sat in the same chair by the pool from about 9:30 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. that evening. It was amazing.
On Tuesday evening we went to dinner at one of the restaurants at the resort with Cory's boss, Al and his wife Debbie. I caught this fun picture on my phone of our waiter making my tequila shrimp.
After dinner we stopped an employee to ask him to take our picture by the pool. As he was handing my back my phone he said..."send it straight to facebook." Ha!
Up next...one last post of the beach, our whale watching cruise and our last evening in Los Cabos.
