Beach Vaca: Day One

Last Saturday, we made the drive to Destin for our week long family vacation!  On the trip was my mom and dad, my brother David, his wife Heather and their four kids Carter, Summer, Tilly and Story as well as Cory, Lincoln and myself.  Yes, that would be 5 children 5 years of age and younger!  The trip definitely never got boring.

For the drive down, Lincoln rode with mom and dad the whole time and per their report he did great!  Now, this is a miracle in and of itself b/c he does not like to ride in the car!  My dad drives a truck and we are convinced Linc likes it b/c he sits up high and can see out.  Nonetheless, it was nice to make the drive with just me and my hubby and no baby.
On Sunday morning we woke up early and headed to the beach!  Lincoln was unsure to think about the beach.  He is not a fan of the sun in his eyes and he will not wear sunglasses.  Overall, he wasn't so sure what to think about the sand but every chance he got he ran full speed ahead to the ocean!  More pics of his sprinting to the water to come!  We started him off in a full suit that had a flotation device built into it; however, that was a little hot so we soon ditched it and went for the diaper only to let him cool off.

Erin gave me some great advice to take this little pool to keep Lincoln occupied!  It worked out pretty good.   It was only $5 at Walmart -- I highly recommend it for the beach.

I just loved this little swimsuit set for the beach.

Our nieces and nephew had a blast in at the beach.  Two years ago Summer would say "no water, no water" but this year she could not get a enough of it. Such a little cutie.

Love this pic of Carter and Summer!

Papa and Gigi enjoying the beach too!

Later that evening, Mom pulled out one of her many surprises and took all of us to the Melting Pot for some fondue dessert!  Yummy!

On the way home from the Melting Pot we stopped off at Alvin's Island for Carter to get his very own crab.  He named the crab Josh and he lived with us for the week.

And we ended the evening with some pics of Lincoln and Cory after we got back to the house.

A great ending to day one!  The rest of the week was just as fun.  Stay tuned....
