Telluride Ski Trip

At the beginning of March we enjoyed an amazing ski trip with two of our best couple friends - the Epps and Paslays. The Paslay's are our old neighbors who moved to North Carolina for Justin's job. And the Epps are the couple that we met through the Paslays, go to church with them and co-lead our community group with them.

This was out first time to vacation with friends and we highly recommend it. The not so great highlight of the trip was that we almost missed our flight from Dallas to Montrose and in turn our luggage was lost - for all 3 days of skiing! It was literally being delivered as I walked up to the condo from our last day of skiing. Good memories indeed!

We stayed at this fabulous 3 bed/3 bath basically ski in-ski out condo. Jason was kind enough to consider my very novice skiing skills and found this place right next to the "bunny slop."

When we arrived on Saturday night we took the Gondola to the Market to buy groceries.

Our first day skiing was on Sunday. Now mind you the first time and only time I went skiing was exactly 13 years ago and I skied one day. I managed. I did not really learn to ski. 13 years ago skiing was my first time to hang around Cory as well. {cue the throwback picture of that trip}.

Yes that one.

So, it has taken Cory 13 years to convince me to go back. He loves to ski. So the first part of day one Cory hung with me while Jason, Jessica and Erin ran laps around me! Ha! I hate not being good at something. Especially anything athletic. So I was frustrated in the beginning but after Cory took a turn then Jessica and Erin took me under their wing. By the end of day one I was tired but felt like I had made progress. Pictures with the girls while skiing.

A few scenery pictures to end the day.

Sunday night we headed out to dinner and then to play a little pool!

Riding the gondola to dinner.

Monday we started off taking a few lifts higher up the mountain than I had gone the day before. We snapped this group picture at the top.

For memories sake it must be noted that immediately following this picture I had my worst fall of the whole trip. I just had one bad fall in 3 days so I find that to be encouraging! Hehe.

Monday was Justin's birthday so we enjoyed a fun evening at dinner. One of Jason's college buddy lives in Telluride so we hung out with him a few times.

Tuesday morning the Epps had to leave a day early for a work trip they won to Hawaii. So Cory, Erin and I skied together in Day 3. I felt like day 3 was my best yet. Even Cory and Erin kept commenting how much quicker I was!

Tuesday night we cooked fajitas at the condo and enjoyed a good ole game of phase 10.

Justin being silly.

And proof that I won!

We had the absolute best time! I made some progress in skiing, we laughed so hard we almost peed in our pants, we ate good food, and just enjoyed the amazing friendships God has blessed us with. We are so thankful to ALL 5 grandparents for taking turns and loving on our kiddos! So thank you!

It was so nice to come home to two sweet kiddos. So very thankful to my parents and Cory's mom for taking great care of our kiddos while we were away!

Cameron's Amazing Book Club

Instead of gifts for Lincoln's party we had everyone bring a gift to donate to Cameron's Amazing Book Club. Cameron is our pediatrician's daughter who was killed in a crosswalk on her way to Kindergarten. Dr. Averitt has been our pediatrician since Lincoln was born in the hospital. She runs the neatest most quaint practice. The book club was started in memory of her daughter. Dr. A donates the books and also hands some of them out to her patients at well child visits. We collected a great amount of books and at Lincoln's 4 year well-child check we were able to give them to her. It was such a great moment to bless her for taking such great care of us!

Lincoln REALLY wanted this one Thomas book and kept pointing out this one book! She decided it could be the book she gave him for his well child check!
_______
And for memory's sake I also love this picture Lincoln drew during his well-child check for Dr A. She was checking out his fine motor skills and asked him to draw a person!

Linc's 4th Birthday Party!

Lincoln requested a bowling party so that is what we did.  It was bowling plus a few games in a room of cannons and foam balls that you shoot at each other.  He had such a fun time at his party.  My friend Jessica commented that while the other kids were bowling he was cheering for them and encouraging his friends.  Such a sweet heart he has.
